What a visit to St Paul's Cathedral involves

A sightseeing visit to St Paul’s Cathedral is the floor under Wren’s dome and the crypt underneath it. If you want the climb, the same ticket covers the three galleries in the drum: Whispering, Stone, and Golden. You pick a timed slot, Monday to Saturday. Wednesday opens later than the other mornings. Once you are in, you can stay until sightseeing ends that day.

Book St Paul’s Cathedral tickets for that slot. The entry card is cathedral sightseeing: floor, crypt, the three galleries, and the multimedia guide. The second card is a London tour that also goes to the Tower of London and onto the river. It does not start at the cathedral door.

Wren's dome, the crypt, and the climb

Wren's dome is the one you pick out from the river and from Ludgate Hill. Inside, the floor is one room: nave, quire, mosaics, and then the geometric stair down to the crypt where Wren is buried, and Nelson. The climb is optional, and it is stairs only. 257 steps to the Whispering Gallery, where a whisper carries around the drum; 528 in total if you go on to the Golden Gallery.

A sightseeing ticket is how you walk that. Sunday is services, not this ticket. The galleries have no lift. The crypt does.

Whispering, Stone and Golden Galleries, same ticket

The three Dome Galleries are on the same sightseeing ticket. 257 steps to the Whispering Gallery, 376 to the Stone Gallery, 528 in total to the Golden Gallery. Stairs only. Photography is not allowed on the Whispering Gallery.

Golden Gallery entry can be held back when the stairs are full. The entry ticket is still the card that includes the climb.

The crypt, included with sightseeing

The crypt sits under the floor. Wren is buried there. So is Nelson. It is on standard sightseeing, not a separate add-on. There is a lift down from the cathedral floor.
