Monument, Bank, Aldgate and Aldgate East are 10 to 15 minutes. Bank has lifts to street level. London Bridge is 10 to 15 minutes on foot across the river, on the Northern and Jubilee lines.

Do not get off at Tower Gateway and assume you are already at the tube. That is the DLR, next door. The fortress gate is the short walk down from Tower Hill.

Landmarks near the Tower of London

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge sits immediately south of the fortress, on the river. The walk from the gate is along the Wharf, not across London Bridge. Do not get off at a south-bank bridge pier and assume you are at the Tower door.

St Katharine Docks

The docks sit immediately east of the fortress, past the hotel and marina. If you have walked from Tower Gateway DLR the wrong way, the water and yachts mean you overshot the gate.

All Hallows by the Tower

The church stands on Byward Street, on the City side of the fortress. Historic Royal Palaces' Tower Hill walk passes this end of the hill. It is next to the Tower, not inside it.

The Monument

The Monument to the Great Fire is the walk Historic Royal Palaces times at 10 to 15 minutes from Monument station. That is a City pavement walk west of the fortress, useful if you came in on the District or Circle a stop early.

HMS Belfast

The ship sits on the south bank, downstream of London Bridge. Historic Royal Palaces times London Bridge station at 10 to 15 minutes from the Tower. Belfast is on that side of the river, not on Tower Hill.
